Fall Bible Studies

Ezra

Saturday Mornings
8:00 to 10:00 AM
On Zoom
Starts on Sept. 14th

Ezra was a man who lived his life by the word of God. He applied the word to his life and made it his way of life and it helped him to live like God wanted him to live.

Ezra was a Jewish exile in Babylon and he was a man who was called a ready scribe. As a scribe, he wrote down the scriptures as the prophets spoke. He was said to have done more to collect and arrange all of the Scriptures and record them than anyone else of his time.

As a "ready-scribe", he was able to discuss the Scriptures and explain them to others at a moment's notice because he had already personally studied them, he knew them and was comfortable with them.

He had just the right words ready to speak out "just the right nugget" of truth to the people that God brought to him. He was called a man of "great piety and zeal". Meaning, he put God and the Scriptures first in his life every day.

Come and join us in this study and learn the many, many life changing lessons from this incredible man.

The Life of Joseph

Tuesday Evenings
6:30-8:00 pm
Faith Church
Starts Sept. 10th

Questions.
This world is full of questions…
What do I do when life doesn’t turn out like I thought it would?

How do I respond when people around me are being unfair and unkind? Do I really have to forgive when they don’t even seem sorry? When life feels out of control, can God still use me? Where is God when I’m going through tough times? Will He provide?

Joseph faced these same questions and many more, and he found answers! His life was no walk in the park, and yet God was faithful in each season of his life to be his Answer. And He’ll be ours too!

Join us on Tuesday evenings as we explore lessons from the life of Joseph in Genesis 37-47 and find answers to some of our own questions. Come alone or bring a friend. Steps and a reading schedule will be provided to help guide your study.

Needed: Bible and a notebook.

The Book of Revelation

Wednesday Evenings
6:30 to 8:00 pm
Faith Church
Starts Sept. 18th

"Perhaps no other book of the Bible feels as inaccessible and as intimidating to us as the very last one. The book of Revelation overflows with images and ideas that confound our modern ears. Two thousand years ago, John’s Revelation was circulated and read aloud among seven churches in Asia Minor. Those who heard the letter understood it and drew encouragement from its message. The same can be true for you today.

Over 10 sessions of verse-by-verse Bible study, Jen Wilkin helps you discover how the last book of the Bible—the culmination of God's great story—speaks both a steadying word of assurance and a strong call to endure to the church in every age."

Needed: the book “Revelation” by Jen Wilkin, a pen, and your Bible.

The Book of Luke

Thursday Mornings
9:00 to 11:00 am
Faith Church
Starts on Sept. 12th

Many of us believe that we aren't good enough to meet other people's expectations.

Maybe you can't wrap words around why, but lurking beneath the surface of the carefully curated façade you present in public, it's there. Being missed and marginalized by others moves us to assume we're not quite good enough for God either.

The great news woven throughout the Gospel according to Luke is that perfection is not a prerequisite for a deep and personal relationship with Jesus. In fact, this riveting account reveals that Jesus is especially fond of ragamuffins in need of a safe place to lean in and linger!

Join Lisa Harper in this video Bible study of a literary masterpiece that doesn't celebrate the elite, but embraces the outliers, outcasts, and overlooked.

Needed: The Book “Luke, Gut-Level Compassion by Lisa Harper, Bible.

1 Samuel

Thursday Mornings
9:00 to 11:00 AM
Faith Church
Start on Sept. 12th

There is no book quite like 1 Samuel. Here’s why. It feels personal. Most of us can put ourselves into the shoes of a desperate and heartbroken woman, or an overlooked son/sibling, or in a position we feel under qualified and unprepared for. How about the shoes of one betrayed, misunderstood, or rejected.

I bet we can appreciate shoes that get to experience a deep friendship that sustains us in the hardest seasons of life, shoes that understand loyalty and patience- courage and breaking points. You see, we get to witness God’s unexpected sovereignty in the lives of ordinary men and women living very ordinary lives- just like you and I. God repeatedly made everyday events work for His divine purposes- Saul was looking for lost donkeys and was anointed as future king of Israel; David was delivering food to his brothers when he was given the opportunity to become Israel’s deliverer over the Philistines; Samuel, the son of a barren women, who faithfully served his way into a position of being a spiritual hero of Israel. The unexpected happened to the least expected recipients. Isn’t that just how God works? Come join us as we study God’s character and sovereignty weaved through the pages of 1 Samuel.

Needed: Bible.
